Ensemble withonevoice to Perform Free Concert July 24

Author: withonevoice on Facebook

As part of the summer festivities here in Macomb, the non-profit professional vocal ensemble, withonevoice, will present a free concert, “We Are Carried,” on Thursday, July 24, at the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall, on the Western Illinois University campus.

Composed of 16 professional musicians and teachers from all around the country (Illinois, Iowa, New York, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania), these gifted singers will be spending a week here in Macomb as part of their Illinois residency. Each concert showcases voices united by a common goal: to spread the passion for music and the arts, inspiring people across the United States to discover their own voices through performances, educational experiences, and workshops that promote and model vocal versatility and exploration.

“We are excited to bring the artists, many of whom are WIU faculty and alumni, back to Macomb for our third season. The Macomb and WIU communities continue to be welcoming and many have chosen to support us financially each year. With this support, we look forward to continuing our free arts program here each year,” said the Director of Choral Studies at WIU and the Artistic Director and Founder of withonevoice, Brian J. Winnie. “In addition, we were invited to perform at the 12th annual Estill World Voice Symposium International Conference this summer in Chicago. So, we are thrilled to share our performance with a wider international audience on July 26.”

After their performance in Macomb, the ensemble will venture to the “Windy City,” on Saturday, July 26, at the First United Methodist Church (temple) in downtown Chicago. Both of these performances will feature multiple world premieres by Illinois composer Alex Berko, Canadian composer Katerina Gimon and Arizona composer MaryAnne Muglia.
