McDonough County Genealogical Society
Built in 1892 by builder J. W. Churchill for Henry and Nancy Moore. Henry was born in Green County, Pennsylvania, June 12, 1832, and moved with his parents to West Virginia. He remained under the parental roof until the age of 21. He began, however, at the age of 16 to work for himself, his first work being on the B & O Railroad in West Virginia. In 1856 he moved to this state locating in McDonough County, where he engaged in farming. In 1857 he married to Nancy Miner of West Virginia. In 1865 he moved to Clark County, Missouri. By economy and hard labor, he accumulated a fine farm, which he operated until his health failed him. In 1892, disposing of his farm, he moved back to Illinois, locating at 623 South Randolph Street, Macomb where he lived until his death in January of 1907. This home still exists today.
