Raising Saints Block Party Set for July 19

MACOMB – It's time for bounce houses during the day and dancing the night away for the adults Saturday, June 19 at the annual St. Paul School Raising Saints Block Party.

From 10 a.m.-noon, children can enjoy - at no cost - bounce houses/inflatables, a foam party, face painting, water activities from Macomb Fire Department and snow cones in front of St. Paul School on Washington Street in Macomb. The fun continues for adults 21 and older, from 6:30-11 p.m., with music by Kalen Reardon and Captain Geech & the Shrimp Shack Shooters, as well as food and a cash bar, in the lot by Vitales on West Jackson Street. Tickets are $15 per person, with food and beverage tickets available for sale on site.

Last year, the event raised over $10,000, which was used to purchase stuffed animals for pediatric patients at McDonough District Hospital, as well as provide funding to the YMCA for youth sports, Macomb Police Department's School Resource Officer program, WIU Office of Public Safety's first grade helmet program, Loaves and Fishes, Sleep in Heavenly Peace which makes beds for children without beds and St. Paul School STEM Program. This year's proceeds will be donated to the same programs, according to St. Paul School Principal Laura Cody.

'Our Raising Saints Block Party is one of our most favorite annual events,' Cody shared. 'If you live in our region and have children, please come out and join us for a morning full of fun, and then take a break and join us later to dance and socialize, all in the name of supporting programs that help children in our county.' The first Raising Saints Block Party was held in 2017 (the event took a two-year break during the pandemic). Since its inception, the event has distributed more than $70,000, which stays in McDonough County, she added.

Advance tickets for the evening event will be available to purchase on the Raising Saints Block Party on Facebook at facebook. com/raisingsaintsblockparty and at stpaulmacomb.com/ church. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
