Aldermen Discuss Rocky’s Bar & Grill
Having tabled any vote until July, the Macomb City Council devoted its committee of the whole meeting Monday to a discussion of the restaurant liquor license application for Rocky’s Bar & Grill.
Arrowwood Hospitality plans to buy and repen the building on West Jackson Street. Alderman John Vigezzi asked prospective owner Karpik Shandil about his plans for a resident manager at Rocky’s. Shandil said he plans to move to Macomb by August and manage the business himself.
City Attorney Lisa Scalf said that building repairs are needed and that Shandil could have achieved city residency by then. Community Development Director Miranda Lambert said her office is working with Shandil on parking lot modifications and with building changes to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
Alderman Dave Dorsett asked Shandil if the building was still for sale. “No,” he responded. But Shandil added that he is interested in taking on a local partner. He has applied for a restaurant liquor license with extra hours. Scalf previously reported that Rocky’s also plans to offer video gaming.
