On February 21, 2005, Pella Corp. an Iowa-based window and door maker, announced plans to build a manufacturing plant in Macomb, an over $36 million investment including incentives from the State of Illinois, as well as, the Enterprise Zone with plans to create 480 new jobs. The launch of the 246,000 sq. ft. facility, was set to open in March 2006.

This was a huge economic development project credited to Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation, City of Macomb and its partners.

Currently Pella employs over 550 area residents.
