I am going to ignore the elephant in the room for now as my comments would be neither loving or kind.
Facebook-there are so many things to say about it. It is used by us “older folks”. It has so many sites which I visit like the “Collectors of Illinois Pottery and Stoneware” page, the “Aldi Aisle of Shame” page and the “God We Hate Trump” page and more. I mentioned last week that a lady called Roxie had made some crude comments to me on Facebook. This week Facebook suggested that I “friend” Roxie. Though it was the wrong Roxie, it took all of 2 seconds to find the correct one with ties to Macomb. Do you find this scary? I did. Facebook obviously tracks what is being said and by whom. I suspect that is not all they are tracking.
Then there was the post last week that was supposedly put on by Elon Musk. I highly doubt that Elon would use Facebook. The post stated that Jimmy Carter was the worst president ever and that Trump was the greatest. Jimmy Carter was an intelligent man. He spent much of his life helping build homes for people around the world. He practiced kindness, taught Sunday School, was a devoted husband and father and so much more. He was a great example for what a president, or any person for that matter, should be.
Another “end to the story” for Plymouth. Otis Henry was a well-known comedian from Plymouth. He performed with bands in a wide area. He was also highly intelligent and worked for the city form many years. A couple of weeks ago, a large yellow machine was parked in front of his house. Last week the house was in a pile and this week, there is just a patch of dirt where the Henry home stood. Recently we have lost the homes of The Burdetts, circus performers, and of Otis Henry, a talented musician and comedian.
I have many trees in my yard. They lose limbs when we have wind. I have a huge stack that I have carried to the front of my yard. I spent some time this week cleaning up brush from my yard and adding to the pile. Noticed more limbs down today as we have had strong winds. I keep hoping that they pile will magically disappear as I have no way to haul them off and I don’t believe in open burning.
A big thank you to the Old Settler’s Committee for the Saturday night entertainment in the park for the kids and for the great sandwiches which they served. Old Settlers is important to Plymouth not only for the annual celebration, but also for sponsoring Santa and other activities. Please support them.
Have been cutting brush and weeding. Found a black raspberry bush at the store. Feasted while I cut brush! Have also been spraying poison ivy. It seems to be popping up in many places this year.
A big thank you to John and Lynn who brought me two Plymouth plates today. One immediately went into my Plymouth collectible collection. A plate from Germany depicting a former church in Plymouth. Quite pretty.
Don’t put anything on Facebook that you do not want shared with the world. Remember to be Loving and Kind and if that is just not possible, perhaps silence is the way to go!
