Macomb City Township Supervisor Angela Markley reported Monday that her office reviewed 38 general assistance applications in May. She said that decisions on five cases are still pending and that eight applications were denied.
Markley said nine men and four women were determined to be employable. She said nine men and seven women have applied for disability, and that six men and four women were determined to be medically exempt from employment.
The township supervisor said $12,400 was distributed to general assistance clients in May. The largest amount was $8,850 for shelter expenses.
Markley said her office mailed or handed out 15 general assistance applications through mid-June.
