ROBIN’S

Bushnell Roundup

Hello Friends Welcome to Summer 2025!! We have been fortunate to have an actual Spring this year – let’s hope that summer follows suit!

Summer brings vacations, rest and for many a reset for the fall. I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by educators most of my life and know that summer is a time for a reset – maybe a little bit of rest and continuing education as well. While you may think they have the summers off – they are really working on their next school year – just without all their charges everyday! And by charges, I mean their students meeting with them everyday as they do during the school year. With that said – thank you to all the educators out there – I hope you get a little “me” time in this summer!

Upcoming Events: 6/28/2025 – All Gave Some, Some Gave All Ride – information below 7/3/2025 – Fireworks spectacular at the B-PC High School. The booms start at dusk!

7/5/2025 – Fireworks at Timberview Lake fun starts at 11am with food trucks, swimming & fishing The third annual All Gave Some, Some Gave All Ride at the VFW Bushnell Post 1422. Sign in starts at 8-10:45, ride starts at 11 to 5pm. Breakfast served 7-10:30, dinner 4-6pm and South Bound Band from 6-9. All proceeds will go to the VFW and VFW Auxiliary Post 1422.

The Bushnell Community Pool is open! Stop in for a refreshing dip in the pool! The pool was opened in 1960 by the Community/VFW and is still a staple in our small town. I grew up at the pool, as did all my friends and family and our son grew up at the pool. It’s small and not fancy, but boy does it feel good on a hot day and you can swim at your leisure. Make it a point to stop in this summer, you won’t regret it!

The Reid Brewer Splash Pad is getting oh so close to completion! Keep watching for the opening! Concrete is set to happen this weekend!!

The Help & Hope Food Pantry located at 293 N Cole Street in Bushnell is available year-round. Their pickup dates for food are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday and Saturday of the Month. Tuesdays from 5:30-6;30 and Saturdays 9-10 am. Donations are always accepted! Please give as you are able – and please use the food pantry if you need to! Summers are just as important as the other seasons – kiddos are home and not being served meals at school, so we need to keep this stocked and ready for them!

Our Fall Festival is quickly approaching. The dates are August 20-23rd The parade is at 5:30 on Thursday the 21st, with line-up at 5:00 at the high school. The Arts and Crafts show is gearing up for their program. The Pie and Cake Auction is another group that could really use some entrants. They need as many entries as possible to auction off. All of their proceeds go to the Festival, and that is where you come in. Even if you think that yours is not worthy of being in the festival – it is! Please make sure you let the baker in your life know that it is their time to shine.

Take Care and Stay Safe! Remember to check on your friends and neighbors during the heat! Especially our 4-legged friends! Water and shelter is paramount!! - Robin Wilt
