CARTHAGE– Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Alex Ourth, PA-C, to Memorial Medical Clinic in Bowen, where he will provide compassionate, family-focused primary care to patients of all ages.
As a Hancock County native, Ourth was raised on a farm near Fountain Green, which brings with him a deep understanding of the healthcare needs of rural communities. He graduated from Illini West High School in 2013 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2018. He later earned a Master of Science in Health Sciences/Public Health from Western Illinois University in 2021. He most recently completed his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Dubuque.
Before becoming a physician assistant, Ourth gained hands-on experience in healthcare as a patient care technician at Keokuk Area Hospital and contributed to public health initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic through work with the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) Foundation and the Illinois Department of Public Health. He also completed internships with Memorial Hospital and the CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholars Program.
Ourth’s clinical interests include preventative and lifestyle medicine, chronic disease management, pediatrics, and rural health. He is board-certified as a Physician Assistant and also holds certification as a Health Education Specialist (CHES).
When not in the clinic, Alex enjoys hiking, landscaping, and spending time with his large extended family. With ties to Fountain Green, La Harpe, Sutter, Warsaw, Nauvoo, and Carthage, he is proud to be returning home to care for the people and places that shaped him.
Ourth is accepting new patients at Memorial Medical Clinic Bowen, located at 209 East 5th Street in Bowen, IL. To schedule an appointment, please call 217-842-5211.
