Elmsgrove Tuberculosis Sanatorium – Bushnell
The Sanatorium was opened January 14th, 1926 in Bushnell, Illinois. Built on the fairground’s racetrack, the building was named for the old elm trees that surrounded the property. Medical improvements for TB in the late 1940s and early 1950s reduced the need for the facility. In the late 1950s Elmsgrove became the county nursing home. In 1977 the “Elms” Nursing Home in Macomb was built, replacing Elmsgrove and the building was demolished.
