WCC All-Conference Softball Team

The West Central Conference has announced its selections for this year’s all-conference softball team.

The criteria for being selected to the WCC All Conference team include the following.

1. Must be nominated by the coach.

2. Voting is based on conference stats only.

3. Coaches can not vote for their own players.

4. The top 18 vote getters are named all conference.

5. To be named honorable mention you must receive at least two votes.

Players named to the first team included the following.

Quincy Notre Dame Catlin Bunte, senior and Alyssa Ley, senior.

Liberty - Chandler John, sophomore and Ally Lefringhouse, senior.

Beardstown - Kylynn Maltby, junior and Bella Palmer, senior.

Camp Point Central Lauren Miller, senior and Karly Peters, senior.

Rushville-Industry -Charlee Gerleman, senior and Italee Ford, junior.

Payson-Seymour Samantha Hugenberg, senior and Grace Klitz, senior.

West Hancock - Lakinn Larson, senior.

Western - Rachel McMullen, senior and Brooklyn Stolte, senior.

Unity - Jillian Shaffer, sophomore.

Southeastern - Gracie Arthur, senior and Tegan Rigg, sophomore.

Honorable mention selections included the following.

Quincy Notre Dame Madalynn Boyer, senior and Lauren Miller, junior.

Liberty - Anna Dietrich, junior; Shea Ionson, junior and Andi Mixer, sophomore.

Beardstown - Vanessa Nunez, senior.

Camp Point Central Claire Huston, senior and Anna Peters, senior.

Rushville-Industry Devin Vogler, sophomore.

Payson-Seymour - Ella Archer, senior and Abby Hagerbaumer, senior.

West Hancock - Jadyn Climer, junior; Jaiyden Huston, sophomore and Lauren Stevenson, freshman.

Western - Sophie Rennecker, freshman and Loryn White, junior.

Unity - Allyson Murphy, sophomore.

Southeastern - Ella Tippey, freshman.

Following are the WCC softball standings Team, Conf, Season Notre Dame 9-0, 27-5 Liberty 8-1, 24-6 Beardstown 7-2, 18-11 CP Central 5-4, 16-8 RIHS 5-4, 17-9 Payson-Seymour 4-5, 14-15-1 West Hancock 3-6, 12-14 Western 3-6, 10-15 Mendon Unity 1-8, 3-17 Southeastern 0-9, 3-17 In postseason play, Quincy Notre Dame won its own regional before being eliminated by Williamsville 1-0 in a Class 2A sectional semifinal at Macomb.

Williamsville lost in the sectional final to Auburn/ Luthern 10-3.

In Class 1A, Liberty won the Class 1A Regional hosted by Barry Western and reached the Class 1A Sectional final at Triopia before losing to Havana 7-5.

The Ducks lost to eventual 1A state champion Carrollton 4-3 in 11 innings in supersectional play at Athens.

Payson-Seymour and Camp Point Central also reached regional finals, losing to the Triopia co-op and Havana respectively.
