WCC All-Conference Baseball Team

The West Central Conference has announced its selections for this year’s all-conference baseball team.

The criteria for being selected to the WCC All-Conference team include the following.

1. Must be nominated by the coach.

2. Voting is based on conference stats only.

3. Coaches can not vote for their own players.

4. The top 18 vote getters are named all conference.

5. To be named honorable mention you must receive at least two votes.

Players named to the first team included the following.

Beardstown - Colby Desollar, sophomore; Zach Desollar, senior; Ethan Heller, senior and Tannar Riddell, senior.

Quincy Notre Dame - Eli Johnson, freshman; Logan Sutton, senior and Abram Wiewel, senior.

Camp Point Central Collin Likes, sophomore; Garrett Neisen, senior and Briggs Wiskirchen, sophomore.

Rushville-Industry Bennett Fretueg, senior and Macon Kessler, senior.

Unity - Simon Rabe, senior.

Liberty - Jackson Sims, senior and Jack Sparrow, senior.

Payson-Seymour - Blake Schwartz, senior.

Southeastern Griffin Tippey, senior.

West Hancock - Grayson Conkright, senior and Layton Conkright, junior.

Honorable mention selections included the following.

Beardstown - Trey Riddell, junior.

Quincy Notre Dame Gavin Doellman, junior.

Camp Point Central Nate Peters, senior.

Rushville-Industry Rylan Reimolds, junior.

Unity - Skylor Goudschaal, senior.

Liberty - Layne Bent, junior.

Payson-Seymour - Lane Barker, senior; Hunter Miller, junior and Raulin Zehnle, sophomore.

Southeastern - Brady McClintock, freshman.

West Hancock - Logan Baker, sophomore.

Following are the WCC baseball standings.

Team, Conf, Season Beardstown 8-0, 18-8-1 Notre Dame 6-2, 19-11 CP Central 6-2, 8-22 RIHS 4-4, 11-12 Mendon Unity 4-4, 12-13 Liberty 3-5, 15-11 Payson-Seymour 3-5, 12-15 West Hancock 1-7, 7-18 Southeastern 1-7, 6-14 In the postseason, only RIHS and QND reached regional finals.

The Rockets lost to West Central (Bluffs/Winchester) 10-1 in a Class 1A final at Winchester.

It was the program’s first regional title game appearance since 2006.

West Central would go on to lose to Routt 4-1 in the Class 1A sectional final.

QND lost to Sacred Heart-Griffin 3-0 in a Class 2A regional title finale at Quincy.

SHG went on to capture the Class 2A state championship.
