This past Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Macomb Park District Board Meeting the Marjorie Connor Spirit Award was presented to Corey Clause.
The Majorie Connor Spirit Award is presented by her family and is an honorable and extraordinary opportunity for an MCSRA and Special Olympics athlete to receive. The Connor family has continued Marjorie’s legacy at MCSRA and in Special Olympics for over 20 years.
Clause has participated in Special Olympics Bowling, Track and Field, Softball, and Basketball over the years at MCSRA. He is a highly-decorated athlete receiving several different gold, silver, and bronze medals in Special Olympics competitions. The MCSRA Program Supervisor, Allie Foster, reiterated in her speech on Tuesday evening that “At MCSRA, we value compassion. I have seen Corey display this trait amongst his peers inside and outside of Special Olympics.
He is an active participant in all MCSRA programming, and our events and programs feel complete with him there.”
