Holiday traditions are officially taking shape in McDonough County, and local vocalists are being invited to take center stage for one of the season’s most cherished musical masterworks.
The McDonough Choral Society has announced upcoming auditions for soloists to perform in its annual presentation of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah.”
In-person auditions will take place Oct. 26 and Oct. 28 at Wesley United Methodist Church, located in Macomb. Audition material will consist of solo selections from Part I of “Messiah,” which covers the nativity and prophecy sections of Handel’s famous oratorical work.
For vocalists unable to attend the in-person sessions, video auditions are also being accepted via email through Oct. 26.
Selected soloists will participate in a dress rehearsal scheduled for Dec. 7, leading up to the main concert performance on Dec. 14 at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Interested singers can sign up for an audition slot or find submission details by scanning the QR code featured on the McDonough County Choral Society’s official announcement flyer or by contacting organization organizers.
