Humane Society Donates to County TNVR Voucher Program

October is designated as Feral and Community Cats Awareness Month.

In conjunction with the month, and to further the Humane Society of McDonough County’s initiative to address feline overpopulation and support the local Community Cat Project, the Humane Society recently donated $5,000 to support feral cat vouchers, which are used for the trap, neuter, vaccinate and return (TNVR) program as part of the work done by volunteers in Macomb’s Community Cat Project (MCCP).

The MCCP works to help those feline friends living on the streets to ensure they remain safe and healthy, while also ensuring they aren't "Casanovas" that create more little kitties roaming the Macomb-area streets and alleys, as well as educate the general public about "community cat colonies." Led by Charlotte Durkin and Clare Kernick, the MCCP was established in September 2023, with the mission of improving the lives of community cats by reducing cat overpopulation.
