"I'mma make it thunderstorm, flood warning, Flocka yeah!" Known for bringing heavy bass and pure concert energy to every stage he steps on, Southern trap pioneer Waka Flocka Flame is bringing that storm straight to Western Illinois University.
The WIU University Union Board announced that the Atlanta rap icon will headline WestFest 2026, the university’s annual Homecoming concert, on Saturday, Oct. 24, inside the University Union Grand Ballroom. Joining him on the bill is rising Chicago rapper BabyChiefDoit. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the music kicking off at 8 p.m.
As CEO of Brick Squad Monopoly and an early force in the mainstream surge of trap music, Waka Flocka Flame built a massive catalog that includes over 30 mixtape projects and chart-topping singles like "O Let's Do It," "Hard in da Paint" and "No Hands." The latter, featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale, climbed to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Beyond music, he has expanded his imprint into real estate, restaurants, and venue development.
Co-headliner Baby-ChiefDoit brings a distinct Midwest flavor to the bill, blending Chicago drill roots with Southern trap influences. The Chicago native earned a loyal regional following through early street narratives and singles such as "6ix Times 2Day," "Snooze You Lose" and "Pancakes & Drugs."
Tickets for the event are available now, priced at $10 for WIU students and $20 for non-students. To purchase tickets or learn more, visit wiuwestfest.com. Inquiries can be directed via email to [email protected], or by following @wiu_uub on social media.
