In the October 2, 2026 edition of the Community News Brief, a police report provided by the McDonough County Sheriff's office incorrectly stated that Janet E. Stolp was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operation of an uninsured vehicle.
In fact, Stolp was NOT the person charged. Stolp was the person hit in the accident and Blayne Jones was charged with the DUI and consequential charges.
The Community News Brief publishes the reports exactly as they are provided to us, as we did in this case.
We have since received an amended police report from the McDonough County Sheriff's office containing the updated information.
