Moon Over Macomb: A Spooktacular Day

Superheroes, witches, ghouls and goblins and other critters, creatures and figures graced the Macomb Downtown Square Saturday morning in a Halloween parade as part of the City of Macomb's annual Moon Over Macomb event.

Select area businesses set up outside their storefronts with candies and goodies for the passing trick-or-treaters. The free festival included horsedrawn trolley rides around the Square, along with fall activities such as corn husk doll-making at the Western Illinois Museum, Halloween magnet-making at the Macomb Public Library, pumpkin painting at the Macomb Arts Center, a great pumpkin hunt hosted by The Crafty Coop, a book giveaway from the McDonough County. United Way and Macomb Altrusa, dog-toy making with the Humane Society of McDonough County and more.

The day ended with live music by John Heasly at The Wine Sellers, and a Halloween Costume contest at Destination 6 Wrestling.

"Thanks to the support of our local organizations and downtown businesses, we’re able to offer a festive event for everyone to enjoy," said Savannah Ballard, marketing and Downtown Development director.
