On Saturday, five members of the squad headed to East Moline to take part in the
14th annual United Township High School Sprint Invitational.
The remaining members of the team were participating in a band competition.
Despite having just five swimmers, MHS finished fifth out of seven teams with a score of 88 points. The Bombers finished ahead of Geneseo (79.5 points) and host UTHS (77).
O’Fallon Township won the team title with 464 points. Rock Island H.S. was next with 220 points, followed by Morrison (155), North Scott (114.5) and Macomb.
Results for the Bombers included the following:
100-yard medley relay – MHS (Abigail Westen, Ridley Lewis, Samantha Musser and Leah Waldrop), seventh, one minute, 14.24 seconds.
50 freestyle – Lewis, seventh, 31.29 and Catlyn Cousins, 11th, 35.38.
100 freestyle – Westen, fifth, 1:11.51; Musser, sixth, 1:13.12 and Waldrop, 10th,

100 freestyle relay – MHS (Musser, Waldrop, Cousins and Westen), seventh, 1:06.16.
50 backstroke – Cousins, 12th, 43.29.
50 breaststroke – Lewis, fifth, 44.68 and Waldrop, NT, DQ.
200 freestyle relay – MHS (Musser, Cousins, Lewis and Westen), sixth, 2:17.58.
On Tuesday, the Bombers headed to Petersburg to compete against Stanford Olympia/Delavan and the PORTA coop that includes A-C Central, Athens, Greenview, Pleasant Plains and Williamsville.
The Bombers came out on top, finishing with 450 points to edge past Olympia/Delavan (430) and the PORTA coop (382).

The Bombers return to East Moline Saturday for the Panther Invitational hosted by United Township High School.
On Oct. 15, the Bombers will host Rock Island H.S.
