The Bushnell-Prairie City and West Prairie High School varsity volleyball teams each suffered losses in recent competition.
Tuesday evening at Bushnell, the Spartans were defeated by visiting Illini West in Prairieland South Division play 25-13, 25-15.
Stats for the Spartans included the following: Jules Kreps – 2 kills and 2 service aces Brynlee Beekman – 2 service aces, 3 digs and 5 set assists Amelia Carley – 2 digs Kendyl McCleery – 7 digs Justice Klinedinst – 6 digs Mylee Chenoweth – 14 digs B-PC dropped to 0-15 overall, 0-3 in Prairieland South play, while Illini West improved to 15-7 overall, 4-0 in South Division play.
The Spartans were scheduled to head to Lewistown Thursday evening for a Prairieland Conference corsover contest On Saturday, B-PC will play in the 11th annual Lady Tiger Varsity Volleyball Tournament at Beardstown.
B-PC faces Rushville-Industry, Beardstown and Havana in pool play before playing one crossover contest.
Teams in the other pool are Midwest Central, Riverton, Lewistown and South Fulton.
The team is then scheduled to head to Havana on Oct. 13 for a Prairieland Conference South Division contest.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, West Prairie headed to Augusta for a non-conference contest against host Southeastern.
The host Suns prevailed 25-22, 25-12 improving to 19-3 on the season.
West Prairie slipped to 18-9. Stats for the Cyclones included the following: Josie Hodges – 13 set assists Payton McGrew – 5 kills Alyvia Barkley – 4 kills Madison Adams – 3 kills Lilly Sheffler – 12 digs and 9 service points Madison McClure – 16 digs Niah Zimmerman – 10 digs The Cyclones return to action Saturday, playing in the Sherrard Volleyball Classic at Sherrard.
The Cyclones are scheduled to face Ridgewood, United Township, Knoxville and Sherrard.
West Prairie will then head to Lewistown on Oct. 13 before heading to Macomb for a Prairieland Conference South Division contest the following evening.
