Melvin E. Larson

Melvin E. Larson age 66 of Tennessee, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning on October 3, 2026, at his home in Tennessee, with his family at his side. He was born December 17, 1959, in Rushville, Illinois, to Gene Larson and Sandra Wayland.

Melvin was united in marriage on May, 12, 2000, in Colona, Illinois to Christine Crawford.

Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife, Chris of Tennessee, his mom, Sandra Eddington, Colchester, 2 daughters: Casey (Austin) Kump, Macomb, Ashley (Ryan) Erichsen, Colona, 1 granddaughter: Ryley Erichson, 1 brother: Hank Larson, Plymouth, 1 sister: Gina (Pat) St. John, Colchester, 1 niece, 2 nephews, aunts, and several cousins, along with many friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father: Gene Larson, step father: Bob Eddington, father and mother in law: Lester and Antoinette Crew, his grandparents, and aunts and uncles.

Melvin worked at Western Illinois University with building services for many years. He retired in 2014. He also owned and operated a mowing company. Melvin loved to work on anything that had a motor and wheels and was always ready to teach anyone that wanted to learn that craft. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, riding 4-wheelers, eating sweet treats, and looking at cars, especially if they were Mopar.

Getting to ride his Harley Davidson with Chris brought him great joy. The thing that Melvin loved the most was the time he got to spend with his family, whether joking around, sharing a meal, visiting, or simply enjoying the company of his beloved cat, Tomcat.

Funeral service will be 12:30 P.M. Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Tim Fross.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30, Friday, October 9, 2026 at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2026. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and a private family burial will take place at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona, Illinois, at a later date.
