The West Prairie High School varsity volleyball team posted a 3-1 record to finish fifth in the Riverton Fall Festival Tournament held this past weekend.
The Cyclones opened tournament play Friday, dropping a 25-23, 25-17 decision to Champaign Centennial. They would rebound however, beating Peoria High 25-11, 25-16.
West Prairie wrapped up pool play Saturday morning, rallying for a 16-25, 25-22, 15-13 victory against Payson-Seymour.
The Cyclones were one of three teams that finished with a 2-1 record in pool play. The tiebreaker was point differential, leaving West Prairie with a third place finish.
West Prairie wrapped up tournament play, facing host Riverton for fifth place, notching a 25-22, 25-15 victory.
The Cyclones are now 18-8 on the season. Stats for West Prairie included the following: Niah Zimmerman – 22 kills and 19 service points Alyvia Barkley – 14 kills Payton McGrew – 14 kills Madison Adams – 14 kills Josie Hodges – 71 set assists and 18 service points Madison McClure – 22 service points with 6 service aces Lilly Sheffler – 15 service points with 7 service aces Kamara Zimmerman – 8 service points with 3 service aces The Cyclones return to action Wednesday, playing at Southeastern.
On Oct. 10, the team will head to Sherrard to play in the Sherrard Volleyball Classic.
The Cyclones are scheduled to face Ridgewood, United Township, Knoxville and host Sherrard.
