The West Prairie Trap Team had a strong start to the Illinois State High School Clay Target League Fall 2026 season during Week 2 competition.
Individual athlete highlights of the week included 25-straights from juniors Jace Fowler and Kendrick Welsh, and seniors Gauge Caho, Maya Hofmeister, Aiden Percy, and Ruger Olson.
Fowler and Welsh also recorded new career PRs with a 49/50 and 48/50, respectively.
In conference competition, the Cyclones finished the week with a solid third-place position behind Quincy High School and Parkview Christian Academy, gaining on the second-place position by 100 points.
In the boys’ division, senior Aiden Percy moved up into a tie for fifth place with an average of 24.0/25 and leads the Cyclones with the highest overall team average.
Other Cyclone boys finishing in the conference top 25 for week 2 junior Kasen Webster and sophomore Ethan Sartorius, who are tied for 12th place (23.0/25), and senior Ruger Olson who is tied for 15th (22.75/25).
Juniors Jace Fowler and Kendrick Welsh, along with sophomore Cody Peters, round out the Cyclone boys with a three-way tie for 17th (22.5/25).
In the girls’ division, senior Maya Hofmeister improved to second place with an average of 23.5/25. Freshman Emmalyn Wilson also rose in overall ranking to sixth with an average of 21.5/25, and junior Charlee Kindhart improved to tie for seventh with a 20.5/25.
Junior Addalyn Stanberry closed out the week in ninth with an even 20.0/25 average, and senior Carlee Jackson tied for 10th with a 19.75/25.
Other Cyclone girls finishing in the conference top 25 for week 2 include sophomore Brynlee Finch in 16th (19.0/25), junior Alisa Wilson in 21st (17.25/25) and junior Kaylee Jackson tied for 23rd place (16.25/25).
Three competition weeks remain for the West Prairie Cyclones trap team.
The team shoots weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Argyle Lake State Park trap range.
