Macomb Preschoolers Celebrate Dolly Parton with Books, Cake & Sparkles
Children at Wee Care Day Center in Macomb celebrated Dolly Parton on Friday, receiving books, western hats and bandannas as part of a local book initiative honoring the icon.
The preschoolers made Dolly’s famous Cuppa Cuppa Cake, listened to Dolly Parton music, and dressed in pink, purple, butterflies, and sparkles. Staff talked with the children about Parton’s childhood— growing up in a one-room house with 12 siblings in the Tennessee mountains, without television, computers, or tablets.
Each child received two books, including one about Dolly Parton from the Day Center. Each child is automatically signed up to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a book initiative managed by Colchester Public Library, when they enroll at Wee Care Day Center.
Recently, Macomb Maurices manager, Kayla Espinoza offered customers $25 off of $75 purchases if they donated books to Wee Care Day Center.
