The West Prairie Trap Team had a strong start to the Illinois State High School Clay Target League Fall 2026 season during Week 1 competition.
Individual athlete highlights of the week included a straight-run 25 and an overall score of 48/50 logged by junior Kasen Webster and a third consecutive PR for junior Jemar Whyte with a score of 46/50.
In conference competition, the Cyclones finished the week with a solid third-place position behind Parkview Christian Academy and Quincy High School.
Conferences are based on team size, not school size, and with a fall squad of 36 athletes the Cyclones are in the largest conference in the state.
In the boys’ division, Webster is tied for third place with an average of 24.0/25 and senior Aiden Percy is tied for seventh place with an average of 23.5/25.
Other Cyclone boys finishing in the conference top 25 for week 1 include Whyte tied for 12th place (23.0/25) and sophomore Ethan Sartorius tied for 19th (23.0/25).
Senior Ruger Olson and sophomore Cody Peters wrapped up the boys’ top 25 tied for 22nd place (22.0/25).
In the girls’ division, senior Maya Hofmeister is in third place with an average of 22.5/25.
Tied for eighth are junior Addalyn Stanberry and freshman Emmalyn Wilson, both finishing with a 20.5/25. Junior Charlee Kindhart broke into the top ten with an average of 20.0/25.
Other Cyclone girls finishing in the conference top 25 for week 1 include sophomore Brynlee Finch tied for 11th place (19.0/25), junior Alisa Wilson tied for 16th place (18.0/25), senior Carlee Jackson tied for 18th place (17.5/25), and junior Kaylee Jackson tied for 22nd place (15.5/25).
Four competition weeks remain for the West Prairie Cyclones trap team.
The team shoots weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Argyle Lake State Park trap range.
