The Macomb Historic Preservation Commission voted last week to approve three downtown improvement projects. All three will receive Certificates of Appropriateness, meaning the work is in compliance with the historic nature of the city's downtown. Two of the three have also been awarded downtown facade improvement grants.
The commission also voted to adopt a historic pallet, approving the paint for downtown use in terms of color and location. City Attorney Lisa Scalf said community development staff can recommend the use of any color from the pallet. Any other color would go to the commission for approval.
Commissioners approved the painting of the stucco on the front of the West Central Illinois Art Center at 25 East Side Square.
Scalf said the center has a set of three colors to choose from, all from the historic pallet.
Also approved was the painting of the second and third floor front exteriors of Stacy Foxall Allstate Insurance at 28 West Side Square. City Administrator Scott Coker said the exteriors would be cleaned and repainted as part of a downtown facade grant.
