Reviewer’s Name: Krista Bowers Sharp Reviewer’s Occupation: Librarian Book Title: Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know Book’s Author: Adam Grant This is a thought-provoking look at the way humans think and communicate with each other. Rather than aiming for certainty as a goal, Grant urges us to seek its opposite, humility, because learning should be about evolving our beliefs, not confirming them. He identifies three unhelpful mindsets that he names “the preacher, the prosecutor, and the politician”, and recommends instead operating as “the scientist”: in this mindset you are expected to “doubt what you know, be curious about what you don’t know, and update your views based on new data.” The author includes many concrete examples to illustrate his thesis. Refreshingly, this is a popular psychology best-seller that does not purport to solve all problems. In fact, Grant reminds us to be skeptical of a silver bullet, an idea that seems to explain everything.Humans are a strange breed in the way our fear of getting old seems to be even greater than our fear of dying. This is a story about memories and about letting go.
