Larry Damitz, 86, of Macomb passed away on September 19, 2026. He was born in Avon in 1940 to Eula (nee Buck) and Arnold Damitz. He was a 1958 graduate of Colchester High.
In 1962 he married Lana Jean Clary. They were married until her death in 2013.
After a brief period of employment for IBM in Chicago, Larry began working for Central Illinois Public Service (now Ameren Illinois). He remained there until his retirement in 2002.
He loved his family, Bluegrass, the Cubs, and fishing. He is survived by his fiancé, Donna Newell Augustyn of Macomb, his children Christine Schaill (Scott) of Vermont, Ash (Jamie) of Yorkville and Catherine Selzer of Elroy, AZ. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Damitz (Teresa) of Punta Gorda, FL; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM Friday Sept. 25, 2026 at the Bardolph Cemetery. Pastor Kelly Ingersoll will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please meet a friend for coffee and share a fond memory.
Memorials can be made to the Macomb First Christan Church (Disciples of Christ).
