Dorothy “Dottie” Chick, born June 8, 1928, passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 98. She lived a life marked by learning, love, and friendship, leaving behind a beautiful legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched.
Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Kenneth and Eva Neville, and her loving sweetheart, Vern “Bud” Chick.
A lifelong educator and learner, Dottie found joy in discovering new things and sharing what she knew with others. She was a friend to all, forming meaningful connections and building community wherever life took her.
She loved to travel and encouraged others to see and experience the world, believing that new places, people, and experiences enriched life. She lived many wonderful chapters in Florida, California, Illinois, and finally in Tennessee. Each place was blessed by the people she befriended and the lives she touched.
Throughout her 98 years, Dottie scattered kindness, wisdom, and love. Her greatest legacy is not what she accumulated, but all that she gave to others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be held in Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon.
