Members and guests of the Colchester Area Historical Society shared a variety of historical artifacts during the organization’s Sept. 8 meeting.
The display included a two-gallon churn bearing the S.D. Mills, Colchester, Ill. imprint; an 1893 Colchester Coal and Mining Co. stock certificate; a 1908 certificate recognizing the most improved penmanship among 16- and 17-yearolds; and a wood carving depicting two horses pulling a coal cart.
Members also viewed Colchester Illinois Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 121: History 1888–1993, compiled by Marilyn Shelley and Judy Black Bland.
The society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Colchester City Hall Community Room , 500 E. Roberts St. Program details will be announced.
