City Township Works to Improve Receipt of Applications

Macomb City Township Supervisor Angela Markley told the township board Monday that she would like to receive more general assistance applications. She said that, out of 15 applications handed out in August, only three were completed. Markley said applications will now be available for pickup when the office is closed.

Asked to address declining rental and energy assistance applications, Markley said some clients have gone to other sources for financial assistance.

There were 32 general assistance applications reviewed in August. Three were denied and decisions on another two are pending. Markley said seven men and four women were determined to be employable, nine men and 10 women have filed for disability, and two men and one woman were determined to be medically exempt from employment.

General assistance funding totalling $6,069 was distributed in August, $4,535 for shelter expenses.

Markley said that she and General Assistance Administrator Tiffany Villwock will attend a General Assistance Training Institute meeting in Effingham on October 16.
