Bushnell Chamber Plans Fall Social, Holiday Events

The Bushnell Chamber of Commerce is plotting a busy fall and winter calendar, with a new 'Bushnell Passport' program designed to draw residents into member businesses and a slate of holiday events including a light parade and Santa meet-and-greet.

At its September 8 meeting, the seven-member chamber approved plans for a fall social on November 10, where organizers hope to debut the passport program. The idea, suggested by member Ron Promisson, would let residents purchase a passport and visit participating chamber businesses to collect discounts or giveaways. The passports must be used within six months.

Shelley Postin will draft the passport and an accompanying letter to businesses; Holly Brint will contact the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for ideas and possible speakers for the social.

The chamber is also exploring a branded merchandise angle: printing tee shirts featuring the logos of member businesses. Each business that participates would receive a free shirt, and the chamber would sell additional shirts to the public.

On the holiday front, the Bushnell Light Parade is set for Dec. 5 with plans to have Santa in the parade. After the event at the Depot, Santa will meet children, and the chamber wants to set up a photo opportunity for residents. Cindy Ridle will handle décor for the photo booth.
