Donald R. Bliss age 74, of Roseville, IL, formerly of Macomb, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at OSF Hospital, in Galesburg, IL. Donald was born January 16, 1952, in Carthage, IL, to Elden and Velma Norris Bliss.
Surviving to mourn his passing is 1 brother: Ronald Bliss (Eagle Grove, IA), 1 sister: Ramona (John) Elliott, Lafayette, IN, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his father: Elden Bliss, his mother: Velma Hopping, his stepfather: Ghlee Hopping, 2 brothers: Terry Bliss, and his infant brother, Lyle, 1 sister: Reta Sue Strope, 1 great nephew: Jensen Daniel, along with many aunts and uncles.
Donald went to school in Plymouth in his early years. After his time at school, he became a farmhand. He loved the farm life. He was known by many for being a helpful neighbor and he never met a stranger. Donald enjoyed riding his bike to the Elevator in Colmar, where he would spend hours talking to the farmers there. He really looked forward to the Labor Day Parade in Colchester every year, as he would participate in it. Donald loved his family dearly, but everyone knew his heart belonged to the farm.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester with Rev. Jim Clayton. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2026 and from 8:30 A.M. to 12 noon Saturday, September 26, 2026.
