Betsy Vick and Cynthia Paidipati were guest speakers at the Annual Out of the Darkness Walk held on Saturday in downtown Macomb.
After listening to each speaker, the hundreds in attendance walked a half-mile route around the downtown area.
The 11th annual Macomb/McDonough County event brings together individuals who have lost friends and loved ones to suicide, and those who want to help raise awareness for suicide prevention.
'These events are good reminders that we are not alone. Sometimes the loss feels so personal, yet there are many who share the same loss due to suicide, and it can be a comfort to come together with others,' Vick added. 'I want people to know and understand that many people share this journey and AFSP is there to help.'
