Beverly A. Clause, 83, of Macomb, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at The Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.
She was born on June 8, 1943, in Macomb. Beverly was raised by her grandparents, Ernest and Mary Fowler. She married Charles Reagan Clause on September 15, 1963. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2014.
Surviving are her two children, Penny Clause and Corey Reagan Clause, both of Macomb; bonus son, Robert “Babs” Babcock; two grandchildren, Douglas Dorsett of Macomb and Crystal (Levi) Cole of Kingsbury, Texas; bonus granddaughter, Mackenzie (Ashten) Arnaud; great-grandchildren, Brodie, Keaton Reagan, Holden and Wyatt Cole, and Declan Dorsett; and bonus great-grandchild, Weston Arnaud.
Beverly graduated from Bowen High School in 1961. She later attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She substitute taught for many years in the Macomb and Fulton County schools.
Beverly was a longtime and faithful member of the Macomb Church of the Nazarene. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), GFWC, Anna Parker Club, and various other community groups and organizations.
Beverly was a warrior: twenty plus years ago she fought two different cancers at once; then twenty years ago she had a life-altering, thirteen hour surgery that literally saved but changed her daily life drastically, and she never gave up. A year to the day after surgery, she started chemo for a third type of cancer, and she never gave up. She and Reagan had promised each other fifty years at least, and even after his dementia and cancer surgery that ended with a stroke, she never gave up: they got their fifty years in even having those who stood with them at that original alter there for the celebration.
Then Bev became diabetic. She fought that disease with everything she had. She lived with it and in spite of it for the last fifteen years or so with every day being a struggle. And yet she never slowed down: she got out and participated in life through her many social commitments, volunteering at The Clothes Closet for many years, and various Bible Study groups. She was a model of perseverance and determination.
The diabetes may have won, but Beverly went down fighting, folks. With the support of every member of the Elms North care group behind her, Beverly gave a very valiant effort to live until her poor body couldn’t keep up anymore. She had carried all her troubles well, but the weight of them had done their damage. Her smile, in the face of all her issues, will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Dodsworth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Macomb Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Joel Hicke officiating. Burial will follow at Blackburn Cemetery in Brooklyn, Illinois.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Macomb Church of the Nazarene for their Doorway to Christmas Celebration taking place there on November 14th.
