Macomb Middle School Boys, Mann Advance to IESA State Golf Finals

The Macomb Middle School boys golf team topped 10 other teams in winning Wednesday’s Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Sectional C held at Parkview Golf Course in Pekin.

The Bombers posted a team score of 360, four strokes ahead of Peoria Heights St. Thomas.

Macomb had three golfers place in the top 13. Eighth grader Madden Tibbitts finished fifth out of 79 golfers, posting a score of 85 (41-44).

Eighth grader Owen Griffith finished in a two-way tie for sixth place posting an 86 (45-41).

Seventh grader Brayden Rankin tied for 12th place with an 89 (50-39).

Seventh grader Eli Enroth and sixth grader Riley Riggins were part of the three-way tie for 34th, both shooting 100. Enroth carded a 49 on the first nine and 51 on the back, while Riggins finished 50-50.

Eighth grader Liam Heaton finished 61st with a 116 (6056).

Connor Perez of Galesburg Costa was medalist, finishing with a 68.

The Macomb Middle School girls headed to Madison Golf Course in Peoria on Thursday for IESA Sectional B competition.

Macomb finished second as a team with a score of 423. Peoria Christian won the title with a score of 388.

Eighth grader Keighan Mann topped MMS, finishing with a 90 (46-44), finishing third overall out of 48 golfers. That effort allowed Mann to advance to this week’s IESA state finals.

Eighth grader Kandice Royer posted a 105 (48-57) to tie for 13th for the Bombers. Eighth grader Cain Butcher recorded a 111 (55-56) to finish 21st and classmate Piper O’Hern shot a 117 (61-56) to place 26th.

Eighth grader Taylor Bush shot a 122 (62-60) to finish 32nd and eighth grader Makenzie Pilat was listed as disqualified in the final results posted by the IESA.

Betsy Hayes of Peoria St. Philomena was medalist, posting a score of 84 (44-40).

The IESA State Finals for the girls is scheduled for Sept. 17 at Metamora Field in Metamora.

The IESA State Finals for the boys is scheduled for Sept. 18, also at Metamora Fields in Metamora.
