MHS Girls Golf Takes Part In Pair Of Competitions

The Macomb High girls golf team started its week Tuesday, heading to Westview Golf Course in Quincy for competition with Quincy Notre Dame, Quincy High, Liberty, West Hancock and Hannibal, Mo.

The event featured a two-person scramble format. Originally scheduled for 18 holes, it was shortened to 9 holes due to heat.

Playing on a 2,524 yard par 36 layout. The Bomber duo of Taylor Mann and Reese Watson finished tied for third out of 17 teams with a score of 35.

Kennedy McGraw and Emma Rigg were seventh with a 39, while Mullen Butcher and Emrey Seward placed 12th with a 45.

The QND duo of Georgia Wisslead and Nancy Scholz took top honors with a low score of 32.

QND’s Caroline Knuffman and Olivia Scholz followed with a 34.

On Wednesday, the Bombers returned to action at Gold Hills, squaring off with QND, Havana and Canton.

QND led the way with a 142, followed by Macomb (180), Havana (237) and Canton (248).

Playing on the 2,447 yard par 35 front nine layout, Mann topped MHS with a career low nine-hole round of 36.

Kennedy McGraw was next with a 41, followed by Watson (42) and Grace O’Hern (61).

Rounding out the scores for the Bombers were Seward (62) and Lily Schmalshof (67).

QND’s Natalie Druffel earned medalist honors carding a 32. Teammate Nancy Scholz was two strokes behind with a 34.

In JV competition, Braelyn Powers recorded a 60.

The Bombers were scheduled to return to action Thursday, heading to Baker Park Golf Course to face host Kewanee High.

On Monday, the Bombers will play in the Prairieland Conference Meet at the Macomb Country Club.
