MDH CFO Dismissed

According to sources within McDonough District Hospital, the hospital's Chief Financial Officer was relieved of her duties Wednesday.

In response to an email inquiry sent to MDH Vice President of Business Strategy Patrick Osterman and Interim CEO Wanda Foster asking about the latest shakeup to the hospital's administrative team, the hospital declined to comment.

'We do not comment on personnel matters,' Osterman wrote.

MDH has previously issued announcements following top-level dismissals, including former CEOs Brian Dietz and Bill Murdock, and Chief Nursing Officer Wayne Laramie. While the hospital would not confirm, nor deny, the dismissal of Sherri Hitchcock, who had served as CFO since August 2024, sources confirmed she is no longer with MDH. Hitchcock had served in the lead financial role after serving as the interim Chief Financial Officer following the promotion of Murdock to his former role of president and Chief Executive Officer. She joined the MDH administration in 2012 and had worked in various fiscal roles, including director of Fiscal Services for five years prior to her promotion as interim vice president of finance.

This is the latest in toplevel administrative upheavals at the Macomb-based hospital. At a May meeting of the MDH Board of Directors, members decided in a closed session to terminate Murdock and Laramie.

On May 21, Melissa Onion, BSN, RN, CLC was appointed as interim Chief Nursing Officer. About two months later, in mid-July, Foster began her tenure as the interim CEO. A few days prior to July 18, she was first named 'transitional interim' as the hospital continued its search for a longer-term interim CEO while looking for the next permanent leader.

As of press time Monday, an announcement had not been provided by MDH regarding the CFO and an interim appointment to fill the role.
