Bomber Harriers Race at Silver Streak Invitational

The Macomb High cross country squads headed to Lake Storey in Galesburg Saturday to run in the Silver Streak Cross Country Invitational hosted by Galesburg High School.

The Bombers had runners compete in varsity and fresh-soph races. A total of 18 schools took part in the competition.

In the varsity girls race, MHS sophomore Ella McKee finished seventh out of 107 runners. She completed the three-mile course in a time of 21 minutes, 7.12 seconds.

Sophomore teammate Olyvia Clark finished 11th with a time of 21:31.80, while junior Sofia Cardenas-Roman was 53rd with a time of 24:57.44.

Geneseo senior Brooklyn Smith was the race winner, posting a time of 19:16.32.

In the team standings Dunlap won the title with a low score of 64 points. Metamora was next with 73 points, two ahead of third place Geneseo.

In the fresh-soph girls race, Macomb finished fourth as a team with 90 points.

Peoria Notre Dame took the team title with a low score of 17 points. United Township was next with 69 points, followed by Metamora (83), Macomb and Dunlap (98).

A total of 48 runners from nine schools participated in the race.

Individually for the Bombers, freshman Jaidyn Sollenberger finished 11th with a time of 24:42.38.

Classmate Jalaine Archdale was 13th (25:50.04), followed by sophomore Khloe Diggs (15th, 26:08.95), freshman Chloe Dupoy (30th, 30:13.02) and sophomore Leah Gorman (39th, 34:03.57).

Hayven Rundle of Monmouth United won the race with a time of 19:57.85.

The varsity boys race included 166 runners from 18 schools.

Three seniors led the way for the Bombers.

Alex Simmons finished 20th overall with a time of 17:18.39. Brother Marc Simmons was 37th (18:09.41), while Eymen Tasdan finished 43rd (18:22.81).

Juniors Xander Merritt was 83rd (20:32,12), while Grant Potteet finished 118th (22:53.32).

As a team, Macomb finished 10th of 16 squads with 245 points Morton won the team title with 39 points, followed by Peoria Notre Dame (73) and Metamora (96).

Individually, Peoria Notre Dame’s Maxwell Kirby won the race in a time of 15:56.32.

The fresh-soph boys race included 95 runners from eight schools.

Bomber sophomore Jackson Petitgout won the event, posting a time of 17:39.73 for the three-mile course.

Classmate Landon Richards was 11th (18:49.14). Sophomore Owen Haley was 42nd (21:42.38), followed by classmate Alaric Gordon (62nd, 24:44.62), freshman Braxton Gorman (70th, 26:16.42), freshman TJ Steele (71st, 26:19.85) and sophomore Colton Dawdy (75th, 26:37.69).

The team competition saw Macomb finish fifth with 130 points.

Metamora led the way with 56 points, followed by Morton (71), Peoria Notre Dame (80), Geneseo (85) and MHS.
