The Youth for Christ (YFC) in Macomb, Illinois will be hosting its ninth annual Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12, on the Everwood Disc Golf Course.
According to Director Todd Rodeffer , the purpose of the annual event is to raise money for the YFC ministries for teenagers. Participants can win gift cards and such equipment as new golf discs.
The Youth for Christ chapter in Western Illinois was founded in 1993 by Christians in the area. There are ministry sites in Bushnell, Rushville and Macomb, with various programs that welcome all teens regardless of background or hometown. Youth for Christ Western Illinois is completely non-profit and has a dedicated staff and growing family of volunteers. Nationwide, the Youth for Christ program was founded in 1944 with Billy Graham as its first employee.
The tournament Sept. 12 is part of Macomb’s Art, Wind and Fire Festival that will be held Sept.11-12 . It features three signature events that include the Gazebo Art Festival, the YFC Golf Disc Tournament and the Macomb Hot Air Balloon Rally.
The Macomb YFC Disc Golf Doubles Tournament is open to the public and tees off at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Macomb Park District’s Everwood Disc Course. Entry fee is $60 per team.
According to the Macomb Park District, the Everwood Disc Golf Course offers “beautiful scenery throughout a variety of holes that start tight with a moderate covering of mature trees and change in relief and obstacles. The course finishes with long, challenging open holes making it a perfect setting.”
The front nine, located in Glenwood Park, offers shorter holes with a mix of birdie chances with tight approaches. These holes are tree-laden, rewarding accurate drives and punishing wayward tree shots and approaches. The back nine, running through Macomb’s Everly Park, are longer and much more open. The length provides a greater, enjoyable challenge for the veteran disc golfer.
Registration will be held at 8 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Everly Park Pavillion. Tee off will be at 9 a.m. To register online, visit: discgolfscene.com/tournament/Macomb _YFC_ Open_2026 or scan the QR code.
The Macomb tournament usually has 10-20 teams, some from as far away as Peoria and the Quad Cities.
