The West Prairie High School volleyball teams opened Prairieland Conference South Division play Thursday with a sweep against visiting Havana.
The Cyclones varsity recorded a 25-16, 25-22 victory.
Josie Hodges and Madison McClure led the team from the service line with three aces each.
Alyvia Barkley added 10 digs and two blocks, while Niah Zimmerman recorded six kills.
Payton McGrew added three kills for the victors.
The Cyclone JV won their match in three sets by scores of 21-25, 25-14, 15-7.
Drew Branch and Kamara Zimmerman paced the offense and defense well.
Branch led the team with 13 set assists and Kamara Zimmerman tallied a teamhigh seven kills.
On Saturday, the Cyclone varsity headed to Macomb to take part in the Macomb Volleyball Classic at Brophy Hall on the Western Illinois University campus.
In pool play, West Prairie lost to Peoria Notre Dame 25-15, 25-18, but rebounded to defeat Rockridge 26-24, 25-15 and Ridgewood 25-14, 25-11.
Advancing to the second place bracket, West Prairie dropped its final two matches in finishing eighth place overall out of 16 teams.
The Cyclones lost to Geneseo 25-7, 25-11 and Deer Creek-Mackinaw 25-17, 25-15, finishing the day with a 2–3 record, moving to 4–3 overall on the season.
Niah Zimmerman was named Second Team All-Tournament.
The Cyclone varsity squad jumps back into tournament play this, heading to Augusta to play in the Lady Suns Classic.
The team begins pool play Tuesday against Mendon Unity.
The Cyclones will face Barry Western on Wednesday before playing Payson-Seymour to wrap up pool play on Thursday.
The Cyclones will conclude tournament play Saturday with a pair of matches.
