Thanks to funding by the Metzger Trust, coupled with the leadership of Randy and Cindy Smith of Plymouth, a celebratory mural has been painted on the south wall of the Plymouth Library. Kim Sedgwick, a Macomb artist who also has a booth at the Community News & Market, was selected to direct the artistic effort.
“Mary Fairchild Bunney brought in the idea,” Linda Switzer, Plymouth’s librarian, said. “Pam Miller was the one who got interest in the mural started. I love it.”
But that’s just part of the story. According to Switzer, Water & Street Superintendent Tedd Simmons plans to redo the front with a new door, windows, and a stone look where the current vinyl siding is now.
All of that, Switzer noted, was also funded by a grant from the Metzger Trust.
The full project is unlikely to be completed in time for the annual Plymouth Old Settlers celebration. But the end result will clearly add eye appeal to the west side of the Square.
