The Macomb High boys soccer team opened its season Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision to the United Township (East Moline) JV squad at MHS Stadium.
After a scoreless opening half, the Panthers got on the board in the second half with goals by Adrian Soliz and Baba Berry.
Carter Ingledue brought the Bombers within 2-1 on a penalty kick after Leslie Antah was fouled in the penalty area.
Jonly Thawng’s goal re-established the Panthers’ two-goal advantage as the visitors closed out the victory.
The Bombers head to Quincy to take part in the QHS Invitational at Flinn Stadium.
On Friday, the Bombers will face Canton, Mo. in the 6 p.m. contest before playing host Quincy High Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
QHS opens tournament play against Beardstown Friday at 4 p.m. before Canton, Mo. faces the Tigers Saturday at 9 a.m.
Following weekend play at Quincy, the Bombers return home on Sept. 1 to face the Illini Bluffs/Farmington co-op at 4:30 p.m.
