MHS Girls Golf Plays At Invite; Host Quadrangular Meet

The Macomb High girls golf team returned to action Monday, playing in the second annual QND Lady Raider Invitational at the Quincy Country Club.

The Bombers finished seventh with a team score of 403.

Playing on the 5,373 yard par 73 layout Taylor Mann led MHS with a 95, finishing in 15th place.

Reese Watson was one shot behind with a 96 to finish 16th. Kennedy McGraw was 26th with a 100, while Mullen Butcher posted a 112 to finish 39th overall out of 72 golfers.

In the final team standings, host QND took top team honors with a score of 355, finishing three strokes ahead of Edwardsville (358).

Normal University High was third at 367, followed by Alton Marquette (372), Breese Central (402), Quincy High (403) and Macomb.

Following the Bombers in the team standings were Quincy Notre Dame “B” (413), Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin (416), Mahomet-Seymour (423), Father McGivney (461), Liberty (481), West Hancock (512) and Rushville- Industry (529).

Champaign St. Thomas More did not field a full team.

Edwardsville’s Ally Suhre was meet medalist shooting an 80, one shot ahead of QND’s Nancy Scholz (81).

On Wednesday, the Bombers hosted QND, Quincy High and Rock Island H.S. for competition at the Macomb Country Club.

QND topped the team standings recording a 165. Quincy High was next with a 183, followed by Macomb (200) and Rock Island (219).

Playing on the 2,719 yard par 36 front 9, Mann topped MHS by shooting a 46, placing seventh out of 33 players.

Watson was ninth with a 48, followed by McGraw 52 (14th) and Emma Rigg 54 (17th).

Emrey Seward and Butcher rounded out the MHS scoring with 61s.

QND’s Olivia Scholz was medalist, shooting an even par 36, three strokes ahead of QND’s Nancy Scholz (39).

In the JV competition, Grace O’Hern, Lily Schmalshof and Braelyn Powers all shot 61.

The team is scheduled to host Farmington Monday at Gold Hills.
