Joseph Frederick Hull

 

Joseph Frederick Hull, aged 71, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on August 7, 2026 at Sacred Ground Hospice House from a degenerative neurological disorder. Joe was born in Quincy, Illinois to Thomas and Lorene (Fruin) Hull on December 8, 1954. He graduated from Western High School in Macomb, IL in 1973 and from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in 1982.

He married Karen Scheibly on August 27, 1983 in Urbana, IL and they spent many happy years living in Chicago, IL, Blue Ash, OH, and Suwannee, GA. He had a career with NCR and was an active member in the Rotary Club of Blue Ash, OH. Joe became a stay at home dad for their son, Riley, while supporting Karen's business career. He also served as President of the North Gwinnett High School Fencing Booster Club for four years. He was a much appreciated community volunteer wherever he called home. Joe shared his brilliant mind, sharp wit and generous spirit with those he loved up until the very end.

Joe is survived by his son Riley and his partner Cat Lagi of Marietta, GA; siblings Susan, Sally, Timothy, Edmund, Thomas, Mary, Robert, Dorothy, Ellen and Maggie; and numerous nieces and nephews from all over the country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen, father and mother, Thomas and Lorene, and youngest sister, Christine Mary.

According to his wishes, Joe's body was donated to science.

An interment of his ashes will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, Illinois.
