SRC Offers Cannabis Horticulture Processing Course

The Spoon River College Office of Community Outreach is offering a class called Cannabis Horticulture Processing this Fall. This program helps prepare students for a career in the quickly growing Cannabis Industry. Classes begin on September 3.

Cannabis Horticulture Processing will explore the colorful History of Cannabis including the medicinal and spiritual uses through the years. This class will also cover the basic chemistry of harvesting, drying & curing, testing, extraction and processing as well as cooking with cannabis. Contemporary legal issues surrounding the cannabis plant will also be discussed. Students will receive lecture and training in a classroom during the course.

Lecture / labs will be held on Thursdays, September 3, 2026 – October 29, 2026 from 3:00-4:00pm at the Spoon River College Community Outreach Center located at 2500 E. Jackson Street in Macomb.

This semester’s fieldtrip locations will include Stoney Branch Ag Ventures near Rushville, IL and Nature’s Grace & Wellness near Vermont, IL. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to fieldtrips.

This course is offered at a discounted cost thanks to funding from Nature’s Grace & Wellness LLC. A textbook is also included at no charge to the student. Semester based scholarships are available! Contact Lily at lily.moser@src. edu for more information on how to apply.
