The Macomb High boys golf team opened its season Monday, heading to Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria to take part in the Mickey Schallau Invitational, hosted by Peoria Notre Dame High School.
The Bombers finished 16th out of 19 teams with a score of 343.
Playing on the 6,399-yard par 72 layout, sophomore Eli Griffith finished 37th out of 114 golfers in shooting an 80.
Juniors Sam Helling and Luke Chapla tied for 62nd overall with an 86, while junior Kollin Knupp placed 90th with a 91.
Playing in their first high school tournament freshmen Cohen Anderson placed 97th with a 93, while Ryker Allensworth was 106th with a 98.
Dunlap captured the team title with a score of 284.
Normal University High was next with a 290, followed by Quincy Notre Dame (294), Washington (296), Peoria Notre Dame (302), Peoria Richwoods (305), Morton (305), Metamora (319), Peoria Christian (323), Normal Community West (324), Brimfield (337), Peoria Notre Dame 2 (337), PORTA/A-C Central (341), Streator Township (342), Limestone (342) and Macomb.
Following the Bombers in the team standings were Rock Island Alleman (345), Bloomington Central Catholic (346) and Illinois Valley Central (362).
Peoria Richwoods sophomore Shane Cunningham captured medalist honors with a five under par 67.
On Tuesday, the Bombers headed to the Weibring Golf Course in Normal for the Raider/Redbird Classic.
The Bombers finished 18th out of 23 teams with a score of 354.
Allensworth topped the Bombers with an 87 on the 6,915 yard, par 71 layout.
Anderson was next with an 88, followed by Griffith (89), Chapla (90), Helling (90) and Knupp (91).
Wheaton Academy captured the team title with a score of 266.
Pleasant Valley was next at 282, followed by Normal U-High (291), Effingham St. Anthony (292), St. Viator (294), Dunlap (295), Quincy Notre Dame (295), Pekin (296), Lockport (298) and Edwardsville (299).
Lincoln was 11th at 304, followed by Washington (306), Glenbard West (307), Machesney Park Harlem (315), Normal West (321), Bloomington High 324), Rockton Hononegah (334) and Macomb.
Following the Bombers in the team standings were East Peoria (357), Peoria Notre Dame (359), Champaign Central (365), Rantoul (381) and Danville (418).
Wheaton Academy’s Nick Ratini was the meet medalist, carding a 64.
The Bombers are scheduled to play host to the annual Gary Saunders Invitational Saturday at the Macomb Country Club.
On Aug. 28, the Bombers will play in the Titan Invitational at Gibson Woods in Monmouth.
