Hello Friends I told you it was going to go fast – and boy has it. It’s almost September! The “ber” months – which just so happen to be my favorites for sure. But not to rush it, let’s finish out August first, okay?
Friends Feeding Friends meal is happening on Tuesday, August 25 at the CCC from 4:30-6:30 pm. Hot dogs and baked beans are on the menu! Glide right into the Fall Festival with a kick-off meal at the CCC! No cost, but donations are welcome!
The Bushnell Fall Festival is this week! This year the “theme” of the parade will be centered around the 250th Birthday of our great Country! Please help us keep this Festival running each year! Festival dates are August 26 – 29th The Firefighter Water Fight is scheduled for 11am on the 29th! Always a great time to get wet and watch the Firefighters have fun! Plenty of food to be had at the Festival – from the Lion’s tent to the Rotary and then the VFW with the noodles galore – you won’t go hungry! And Boden’s Amusements offer all the carnival treats – you won’t go hungry, and that’s a fact!
And the rumors are true – Super Sandwiches are making a comeback! The BPC senior class is bringing back Super Sandwiches to help raise money for the 2027 After Prom. Sandwiches are $5 each and are made on a deli roll with American cheese and a variety of deli meats. Orders are being accepted now through September 8, with pickup scheduled for September 13. To place your order, please contact Sara Hilton, Betsy Kreps, Dawn Lamm, or any BPC senior student or parent. Thank you for supporting the BPC Class of 2027 and helping make After Prom a memorable event for our students! While I’m not sure when the sandwiches stopped being offered, but they are a welcome back treat for sure! Get those orders in so you aren’t left out! I remember when our son was in elementary school, we always bought big and stocked the freezer – meal prep for lunch was done!
Recently the world lost a wonderful person. She was my boss at WIU during the first half of my tenure. She was there when I got engaged, married, bought a house, had a baby – all the big milestones. And along the way she became a friend. She taught me everything about my job, as well as how to do it with grace. How to deal with college students (a whole different breed for sure!), fellow co-workers, administrators – all the things. She was smart, talented, insightful. She included me, guided me, and taught me so much. The world lost a true light on earth – that will shine in the Heavens for eternity. What a blessing it was to have Janice in my life.
