Dustin D. Thompson age 46 of Good Hope, passed away at 11:32 A.M. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, in Carthage. He was born May 4, 1980, in Macomb, to Doug and Deana King Thompson.
Surviving to mourn Dustin’s passing is his parents Doug Thompson, Good Hope, Deana (Tim) Bradford, Good Hope, 2 sons: Tristen McCool, San Diego, CA, Caden Dean Bainter, Macomb, 1 brother: Davin (Michelle) Thompson, Peoria, 1 niece: Madelyn Thompson, Peoria, 1 nephew: Payton Thompson, 1 uncle: Steve Bradford, 1 grandfather: Larry Bradford, Good Hope, a beloved dog: Molly Kay, and his loving cat: Sissy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Vonda Thompson, his grandmother: Salma Bradford, 1 uncle: Greg Bradford, and 1 aunt: Wanda Bradford.
In Dustin’s adult life he worked at Midwestern Building Supplies in Macomb, and Rent-A-Center, in Springfield, and Keokuk, IA. After moving back to Macomb, Dustin worked for STC Investments with his brother, Davin, for several years. Prior to his passing he worked at Waste Management for many years. His passion for lighting programs led him to be a proud partner of M&S Light and Sound for 15 years. Dustin also used his talent and love for lights to decorate for many holidays around his hometown and surrounding communities. For a time he was Assistant Chief of Good Hope Fire Protection District and held the title of Firefighter and EMT. In his younger years, he was an official at Macomb Speedway for several events, including Mud Racing. He was also an avid bowler and was on a bowling league. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking care of the Koi pond he designed at his home. Dustin also had a love for gambling and when asked he would give advice on how to be as lucky as he was. Dustin will be remembered for how much he loved his two sons, his family, and the people closest to him.
