Heaven gained a gentle soul with the passing of Michael Lee Filbert. He passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the age of 64. He spent the afternoon surrounded by his family and friends, and babies playing and singing in his room, Mike was born on March 13, 1962 in Macomb IL to Clayton “Gene” and Karen Filbert. He was a graduate of Bushnell-Prairie City High School. He worked for various trucking firms and most recently worked for Ferguson Farms where they treated him like a family member and he loved driving their trucks.
Mike is survived by his sister, Pam (Steve) Hensley of Macomb, IL, nephew, Tyler (Carrie Marckess) Bartlett, IL, niece, Lauren (Rachel) Hensley Macomb IL, niece, Lexi (Ben) Bruce of St. Louis, MO, Kyle (Kalyn) Johnson Macomb, IL and brother-in-law Mark (Chrystal) Johnson Macomb, IL, several great nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Boo.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Gene and Karen Filbert and sister, Lisa Michelle Johnson.
Being the animal lover Mike was, we ask in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the HSMC New Animal Shelter. Memorials may be sent or dropped off at Clugston- Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2026 at Bushnell Cemetery with Pastor Doug Kuster officiating. There will be no visitation.
